Hornets

Hornets appear very similar to the common wasps, but they are larger and their colour is rather chestnut-brown and yellow instead of black and yellow.

Hornets are less aggressive than wasps, but they may still sting repeatedly to defend their nest against any threat.

Hornet queens hibernate during the winter, and emerge in spring to begin building a papery nest in hollow trees or even in wall cavities and chimneys.

How do I get rid of them?

If you have hornets causing problems, we would recommend you contact a licensed pest controller, and ask for them to be exterminated.

Hornets are large insects, with a potent sting - unless you know exactly what you are doing, do not attempt to deal with them yourself!
